Lori-Ann was disappointed with her performances: 11th in
the Match Sprints and 6th in the Standing 500Metres, but her
time in the Standing 500Metres was a new Canadian Record.
Lori-Ann is the only Canadian woman in history to go sub-35
seconds in this event.

Two weeks later she added another 3 National titles to her growing collection which now totals 11, and again set another Bromont Track Record (her third on this track).

The Good Ol’ Days: Beyond 2003
Training in Switzerland was a good experience but not good enough in her books. “I need to train here at home [Edmonton], I need to work full-time to support myself financially, and as it gets closer to competition time [Olympics!] I need to go away for training camps so that I can be competitive at the World level. Being able to have the financial support from a sponsor lets me focus solely on achieving my goals and dreams, and enables me to reach my two goals of being the Best in the World and the Fastest Cycling Woman on the Planet!”

In looking over the last three seasons, Lori-Ann says “there have been so many good lessons learned even though this year was a lot more costly than other years”. Lori-Ann and Steen are going back to their training regimen of 2001 and 2002, adding in a few things that have been learned along the way.

Lori-Ann enjoys working full-time and balancing a demanding training schedule. She says, “it is a constant challenge to balance being an elite athlete, working towards two Olympic Gold medals, and being able to experience normal day-to-day activities.”
